Addison Randall

2024 Cello Festival

Addison Randall began her cello studies at the age of eight with Luke Cook, an instructor at the Crescendo Academy of Music in Kalamazoo. In high school, she studied at Western Michigan University with cello professor Bruce Uchimura and now studies with Dr. Chris Wild. She has successfully auditioned and participated in Spotlight on Youth in 2015 and 2017, String Leadership Camp at Grand Valley State University in 2018, Western Michigan University’s Summer Seminar in 2021, MASTA Chamber Music Festival in 2023 with her quartet, and Ascent Cello Festival last year in 2023. In 2022, Addison won honorable mention in the Kalamazoo Junior Symphony Orchestra’s Concerto Competition, and in 2024 she performed the first movement of the Dvořák Cello Concerto with the Andrews University Symphony Orchestra.

Addison has performed in masterclasses with Cicely Parnas, Emilio Colón, Pablo Mahave-Veglia, Lucas Richman, Andrew Koehler, Anthony Elliott, Alan Rafferty, and Roman Borys. She has performed for Richard Aaron, Amir Eldan, Mitchell Newman, Sydney Lee, Anna Clift, and others. In 2022, she began teaching cello at Kalamazoo Kids in Tune and had a small private studio of her own all through high school. Addison was principal cellist of the Kalamazoo Junior Symphony Orchestra for five years as well as playing in the KJSO String Quartet for four years. As a recipient of the Dare to Dream Scholarship, Addison is studying cello at Andrews University and is co-principal cellist of the University Orchestra.
