Amelia Allen

2024 Cello Festival

Amelia Allen started studying the cello at the age of eight with Sarah Berry at Western Kentucky University. Within this school’s pre-college program, she was able to perform in solo and small ensemble settings. She developed a strong, emotional connection to music and grew to become a very musical cellist. During high school, Amelia joined WKU’s symphony directed by Dr. Brian St. John and also began taking lessons with Susan Moses in the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University. It was during this time that Amelia was given the opportunity to perform the Elgar Cello Concerto with WKU’s symphony. She now studies under Paul Katz at New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. Amelia aspires to become a teacher and has started to teach young cellists whilst in Boston.
