Amelia Allen began studying cello at the age of 8 with Sarah Berry at Western Kentucky University (WKU). By 11, she decided that she would be playing music for the rest of her life. Along her journey, she performed the Elgar Cello Concerto with WKU led by Dr. Brian St. John, won WKU’s Summer String Program’s competition, was a finalist at the Tennessee Cello Workshop’s competition, and studied with Susan Moses at Jacob’s School of Music pre-college program. Amelia is now studying with Paul Katz at the New England Conservatory of Music. Here, she often gets to work with NEC’s own pre-college program and its students which gives her the chance to work toward her dream of teaching music.
