Cellist Andrea Wang studies at the Cleveland Institute of Music with Dr. Melissa Kraut for her Bachelor’s in Music in Violoncello Performance. Prior to attending CIM, she gained several recognitions as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral cellist. As a soloist, Andrea holds first and second prizes from the United States Open Music Competition and multiple first prizes from the Great Composers International Competition. She was also a selected recitalist in the Junior Bach Festival, in which she received 5 invitations to perform in 2019, 2020, and 2021. She was principal cellist in the Oakland Symphony Youth Orchestra and performed in numerous chamber music ensembles across the East Bay Area. Additionally, she was a participant in the Boston University Tanglewood Institute, Philadelphia International Music Festival, Interlochen Music Academy, and Sequoia Chamber Music Workshop. Her previous primary studies have been with Jonathan Koh and Paul Rhodes.
