Charmaine Lee is a rising junior at the Peabody Institute of Music at Johns Hopkins University, where she is studying with Judith Ingolfsson. Her previous teachers include Sam Fischer at the Colburn School and Lucy Qing Huo. Charmaine was a member of the Claremont Young Musicians Orchestra, and has soloed with them after winning the concerto competition. Charmaine has been awarded numerous prizes at competitions including MTAC, ASTA, VOCE, and SYMF. In 2018, she won first place in ASTA’s preliminary round and second place in the LA Finals. She performed as a soloist with the San Fernando Valley Symphony Orchestra after winning first place in the MTAC competition. Charmaine has attended many prestigious festivals, such as the Montecito International Music Festival and the Idyllwild Summer Chamber Festival, where she was selected as concertmaster of the Festival Orchestra. In addition to her orchestral accomplishments, she has performed in chamber ensembles through both Junior Chamber Music and the Colburn School’s Edelman Chamber Music Intensive. In 2016, she was featured in JCM’s Honors Tour to Boston and New York, performing at famed venues such as Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. Her chamber group at Colburn was selected to perform on the Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s Sundays Live in early 2018. She has given distinguished performances at masterclasses under Andres Cardenes, Martin Beaver, and Mitchell Newman.
