Emily Cassandra Sandoval

2024 Violin B

At the age of four, Emily Sandoval began learning the violin in a Chanchona ensemble. Sandoval grew up loving classical music alongside her musical family in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Emily is now a student at the University of North Florida (UNF)  as a violin performance major in the studio of Professor Mellisa Barrett. Sandoval currently serves as the Concertmaster for the UNF Orchestra under the direction of Dr. Erin Bodnar. Emily Sandoval has been involved in numerous performances such as the Dreamers Arts Festival in 2023 in South Florida with the world renowned Black Violins and in the production of Handel’s Messiah alongside the UNF Chamber Singers and the in residence Lawson Ensemble. Ms. Sandoval enjoys spending her spare time performing in local venues such as the NSU Art Museum in Downtown Fort Lauderdale, Haitian Day Festival Art Galleries in Pompano Beach, and local retirement homes.

Ms. Sandoval has earned numerous accolades including nine Superior ratings at Solo & Ensemble, D.A.R.T. Foundation Scholarship Recipient, Tonsfeldt Music Scholarship Recipient, Rushmore Music Festival Performance Guild 2020 Superior with Honors, Rushmore Music Festival Performance Guild 2022 Superior Rating, and most recently the 2023 UNF Orchestra Concerto Competition with Max Bruch’s first Violin Concerto. Fluent in both English and Spanish, Ms. Sandoval dreams of continuing being a representation for the young musicians in the Latin American community.
