Emma, a native of Charleston, South Carolina, is currently a junior at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in violin performance. She began her studies at the age of 4 with her mother who taught her for 13 years. In high school, she studied with Yuriy Bekker, concertmaster of the Charleston Symphony Orchestra, and currently studies with Timothy Lees, retired concertmaster of the Cincinnati and Charleston Symphony Orchestras. Emma plays with the Charleston Symphony Orchestra, Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra, Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra, Lima Symphony Orchestra, Springfield Symphony Orchestra, and Kentucky Symphony Orchestra. During her freshman year at Cincinnati Conservatory, she was concertmaster of the CCM Concert Orchestra. She has also been concertmaster of the Charleston Symphony Youth Orchestra which she was part of for 8 years. Her summers have included Lyricafest in 2023, the Castleman Quartet Program in 2022, the Meadowmount School of Music in 2021, the National Symphony Orchestra Summer Music Institute in 2020, the Josef Gingold Chamber Music Festival in Miami in 2019, and the Brevard Music Center in 2017 and 2018. Emma hopes to play in an orchestra professionally and teach when she gets older.
