Gerrit Vanderschoot is a BM Cello Performance Major and rising junior at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. He is a cellist in the St. Olaf Orchestra and also works as the assistant student manager of the ensemble. Gerrit also plays in various chamber ensembles as well as Collegium Musicum. This year, Gerrit was a finalist in the Schubert Club’s Bruce P. Carlson Student Scholarship Competition. Outside of music, Gerrit enjoys speaking and learning German, fishing, and playing with his dog, Poppy. His primary teachers include Diane Chou, Käthe Jarka, and David Carter.
