Helen Wang

2025 Cello Festival

Helen began playing the cello at the age of five and has since developed a deep passion for music. As a dedicated soloist, she strives to bring both technical excellence and emotional depth to her performances. Helen has been recognized in numerous solo competitions. She was awarded Honorable Mention in the 2025 MTAC San Diego Concerto Competition (Division V, Strings 14-18 years old) and was a finalist in the 2023 VOCE State Competition for Solo Junior Strings. In 2024, she won second prize in the ENKOR International Music Competition (Category B, ages 11-15). Her achievements also include second place in the 2023 MTAC San Diego Concerto Competition (Division V, Strings through 13 years old) and multiple awards from the San Diego Young Cellist Competition, MMYO Solo Competition, and H. B. Goodlin Scholarship Competition.
Beyond her solo work, Helen has enriched her musical experience through chamber music and orchestral performance. She is the cellist of the Meowzzarella Quartet, an ensemble that has competed and performed regularly in recitals and community outreach events. She has also participated in esteemed chamber programs such as the Solosoli Chamber Music Program and the Hausmann Quartet program, where she received coaching and masterclasses from professional musicians.
In the summer of 2023, Helen attended the Jacobs School of Music Summer String Academy, where she worked intensively on solo repertoire under the guidance of distinguished faculty. The experience deepened her interpretative skills and strengthened her confidence as a performer.
Helen aspires to become a professional cellist and is eager to continue developing as a soloist. She seeks every opportunity to refine her artistry, challenge herself, and share her love of music with audiences.
