Katya Schane began studying violin at age 8 in the California Bay Area. She recently graduated with a Bachelor of Music from SMU’s Meadows School of the Arts, where she had the privilege of studying with Emanuel Borok and Alexander Sitkovetsky. In high school, Katya studied under Czech violinist, Ivan Zenaty, at the Cleveland Institute of Music. Katya greatly enjoys the collaborative nature of music and the creative process of preparing compelling programs for diverse audiences. Past summer experiences at Brevard, Meadowmount, and Orford solidified Katya’s love of chamber music, especially.
In addition to music, Katya earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology. Her other interests include reading, rock climbing, and spending time with her multilingual family. Katya is fluent in English, French, and German, and also studied Mandarin throughout high school.
