Lucas Ralston

2024 Cello Festival

Lucas Ralston started playing cello at the age of five at the studio of Alan Henson (Ames, IA), and continued his studies at Iowa City’s Preucil School of Music under the direction of Dr. Laura Shaw. From the very beginning of his musical career, Lucas developed  a passion for chamber and orchestral performance. His musical resume includes Iowa All State Orchestra Festival, work with Des Moines Symphony Academy, Stringwood Chamber Music Festival, Ascent International Cello Festival and CelloDayz Festival at the University of Iowa. Lucas served as a principal and the assistant principal cellist at Dorian Festival at Luther College and at Drake University Honors Orchestra. In addition to playing with orchestra and chamber ensembles, Lucas enjoyed being a pit musician at City High, which he graduated with honors this June. Lucas is planning to pursue a double degree in History and Cello Performance starting Fall 2024.
