Naseem Shakir-Muhammad

2023 Violin D

Naseem Shakir-Muhammad’s musical life started when he was just a very young child. His father noticed that he would hum various familiar tunes when he was around three to four years of age and thought that he might be musically gifted. At the age of eight, Naseem was asked by his father if he would like to play an instrument and what would it be? Naseem had no problem answering in the affirmative and that he would play the violin out of any instrument. From there, Naseem Shakir-Muhammad now finds himself a student at Merit School of Music but not only does he still hum tunes, he is playing them where his father and many many others will hear. In June of 2020, he was accepted into the Merit Tuition Free-Conservatory, and just one year later, the Musical Arts Institute contacted Naseem through CMPI and invited him to join their ensemble, to which he agreed and is still a member. In August of 2021, he was accepted into the Merit Philharmonic. Naseem was accepted into the Ascent International Chamber Music Festival as a violist for the summer of 2022. He again has been accepted into the Ascent International Chamber Music Festival as a violinist for the summer of 2023.
