Paloma Furst Chavira

2024 Violin A

Paloma Furst Chavira is 15 years old and in the 9th Grade. She began playing the violin at the age of three. She performs with the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra’s Symphony Orchestra and has served as concertmaster of the Preparatory Strings and the Philharmonic Orchestras. She is also a member of the Merit Philharmonic Orchestra. This year Paloma was selected to participate in the 2024 National Pathways Festival Orchestra and as well as the Chicago Youth in Music Festival, both under the baton of Giancarlo Guerrero. Paloma performs with the Spizella Quartet as a part of the Competitive Chamber Division of the Alice S. Pfaelzer Conservatory at the Merit School of Music and is coached by Desiree Ruhstrat. Spizella competed in the final round of the 2024 Rembrandt Chamber Musicians High School Chamber Competition and was featured in the Pilgrim Chamber Players 2024 Stars of Tomorrow concert. Spizella participated in masterclasses with Joseph Conyers and the Pacifica Quartet. Paloma has studied with Desirée Ruhstrat’s private studio since 2022. In 2021 Paloma was selected to play for the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra’s Rising Stars Showcase. In 2022 Paloma was awarded an Honorable Mention in early music for the Walgreens National Concerto Competition’s open junior division. She has performed in master classes with Almita Vamos and Hilary Hahn, and has appeared with The Piano Guys.
