Summer Crabb

2024 Cello

Born into a musical family, Summer has been exposed to beautiful music from a very young age.  Beginning her cello studies at the age of 7, she quickly progressed and has blossomed into a serious young artist.

Summer is the first prize winner of the Castro Concerto Competition (2024) and the second prize winner of the Santa Fe Symphony Concerto Competition (2024).  She is also the recipient of the rising star award from the 2021 Jackie McGehee Competition for Strings.  In the same year she was selected through a national audition process to perform at the 43rd annual Kennedy Center Honors in Washington D.C. to honor the violinist Midori.

An active member of the Albuquerque Youth Symphony, Summer also loves to play chamber music with her fellow music students and has performed the Dvorak American Quartet, the Popper Requiem for Three Cellos and Piano, the Dvorak American Quintet, and the Borodin Trio in G Major.

Summers aspiration is to be a highly trained church musician that has the ability to raise up the downtrodden, restore the brokenhearted, and to make the congregation rejoice!  Her dream is to attend one of the best music schools in the country and has begun preparations for auditions.
