14-year-old Will Savage will start 9th grade this fall in Overland Park, KS. He studies with Susie Yang and wishes to pursue a career as an orchestral cellist. Will made his concerto debut at Kauffman Center’s Helzberg Hall with the KC Civic Orchestra as winner of the 2022 Chatelaine Young Artist Competition, and recently performed Lalo Concerto with Overland Park Orchestra as winner of their Young Artist competition. Since 2022, Will has been the MTNA Junior Strings Competition state winner and KS representative in the divisional round of the national MTNA competition; he was awarded 2nd place amongst seven state winners in the 2025 West Central Divisional competition. Will loves playing chamber music in the Friends of Chamber Music KC’s year-round Young Artist program, coaching with Mike Mermagen, Jackie Lee, and Chiafei Lin, and learning from Avi Friedlander and Amy Barston in the summer at Chicago Suzuki Institute. Will also enjoys soccer, ping-pong, board games, reading, playing outside with friends, Minecraft, and cheering on the KC Chiefs.
