Willem Damron is entering his junior year at Walled Lake Western High School in Commerce Township, MI. He is a member of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra’s Civic Youth Ensemble. Through CYE, he has performed chamber music under the coaching of Cole Randolph. Willem was a finalist in the MSBOA’s Outstanding Soloist Competition in April 2025, performing the first movement of the Saint-Saens Cello Concerto at Eastern Michigan University. Willem will be the principal cellist in the Blue Lake Camerata for strings this July. Willem is active in National Honors Society, Model United Nations, and Student Council. Willem plans to pursue medicine in college and to continue his cello studies.
