Yasmine Bougacha

2022 Violin

Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, Yasmine Bougacha has been pursuing violin in a variety of genres since the age of seven. She was a recipient of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra’s Young Strings scholarship program since 2011 and attended one of the country’s top conservatory high schools for music performance, Booker T Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, graduating from both programs in 2016. Throughout her younger years she gave a concert tour in China with the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra, debuted as a soloist in Oaxaca, Mexico, and has also given various chamber recitals with other Young Strings alumni at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center.

Since 2019 Yasmine has also performed in the first and second violin sections of The Allen Philharmonic Orchestra & Symphony Chorus, the Plano Symphony Orchestra, and the Texarkana Symphony Orchestra. More recently after the pandemic, Yasmine made her European debut as a soloist and chamber musician through the performances she gave at MusicFest Perugia in Perugia, Italy. She has also received many honorary positions such as the Orchestral Futurist Fellowship in the National Orchestral Institute + Festival for promoting racial diversity in classical music and the ThreeArts Scholarship for promoting more gender diversity in the arts.

As a violinist with Mexican and Tunisian heritage, she has a passion for learning and performing music of all genres. This passion propelled her to perform with the acclaimed Texas female mariachi Rosas Divinas as a guest artist on repeated occasions, and to make her own arrangements of traditional Arabic songs for performances. She plans to pursue more opportunities like this that will allow her to showcase different genres to the world.

Yasmine received her Bachelor of Arts in Music with a minor in Business Administration from Southern Methodist University in 2020 under the instruction of Nathan Olson and Andre Gustus. She graduated with her Master of Music in Violin Performance from the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music under the instruction of Won-Bin Yim in April 2022 and will continue her studies there pursuing her Artist Diploma certificate.
