Yiguo Zhang is a high school-aged violinist in
the Philadelphia area. He currently studies violin
with Shelley Beard at Settlement Music School.
He has had masterclasses with world-class
musicians such as Randall Goosby, Rebecca
Henry, and the Grammy-nominated Catalyst and Dover Quartets. During the summers, he attended Kinhaven Music School and the Ascent International Chamber Music Festival, studying under Professors Timothy Kantor, Amy
Lee, and Grigory Kalinovksy.
Yiguo frequently performs with the Philadelphia
Youth Orchestra and the Auger Contemporary
Music Ensemble in Settlement Music Schools Advanced Study program. Recently, Yiguo was the top-
ranked violinist in Pennsylvania, serving as
concertmaster at the Pennsylvania All-State
Orchestra Conference, and serving as assistant
Concertmaster at the national Pathways
Festival Orchestra. Yiguo has won top prizes at the Old York Road Concerto Competition, Charleston International Music Competition,
the Bösendorfer Youth Music Festival, and the
Bucks County Concerto Competition.
In school, Yiguo is a founder of the Lower Merion
chapter of Tri-M, a national honors society of
the National Association for Music Education.
Tri-M aims to create future leaders in music
and music advocacy through community
service. Through music, Yiguo hopes to inspire
others, bridge connections, and share
expression.
