With a successful track record in two dynamic careers, Gary Stevens brings a unique perspective to his work as a performer and leader in the music industry, as well as a dealmaker and executive in retail real estate. Now serving as Lead of Development at Ascent Music, Gary channels his diverse expertise into advancing the growth and impact of the organization.
Gary’s passion for music began at a young age. He started drum lessons at 7, played his first paid gigs at 10, and began teaching music at 13. His musical range spans jazz, pop, rock, and Latin percussion, as well as classical snare drum and timpani. After earning a business degree, Gary pursued a professional music career, performing both live and in the studio until transitioning to commercial real estate at age 30. In real estate, he held leadership positions at well-known companies, including LifeTime Fitness, Sears Holdings, Staples, Inc., and Ahold NV. A frequent speaker at industry and community events, Gary often shares insights on real estate technology and negotiation fundamentals.
Gary is a former Governing Member of the Cleveland Institute of Music and has served on the Board of Directors for the Cuban American Youth Orchestra (CAYO), a Minneapolis-based cultural exchange organization. He is also a certified mentor with the SCORE Organization.
